How to Install Alpha 4.0 Silently with winget on Windows

Need Alpha 4.0 on a server, golden image, or developer workstation without anyone watching the screen? winget's silent install handles it in seconds. Here's the recipe and the gotchas.

Generic EXE installers vary — winget install --silent makes a best-effort to pass the right flag.

Per-user install (no admin)

Common errors

"Alpha 4.0 is already installed" — winget detected the existing install. To force-reinstall over the existing copy:
